Johnston Truck-Mounted Vacuum Sweeper Models

The Johnston V-Range vacuum sweepers are the first European-manufactured machines to achieve full PM10 test compliance in stringent air quality tests on whole vehicle emissions.

The Legendary Johnston VT650

To date, there are more than 12,000 of these machines in service throughout the world. They are renowned and loved for their unbeatable and consistently reliable performance.

This machine has won numerous design and export awards and can be found diligently working in most every major city in the world. Its reputation for low maintenance is legendary.

Its trademark, gearbox-driven vacuum fan and 343-gallon stainless water tank has made it the favorite and repeat choice of governments, contractors, cities, towns and municipalities.

The Johnston VT650's range is so versatile, it is used in almost every sweeping application known around the world. From highways to residential areas, from construction sites to palaces, and from battlefields to parking lots, the Johnston VT650 is the undisputed worldwide leader and standard bearer of the sweeping industry.

The Smaller, More Maneuverable Johnston VT500

The Johnston VT500 shares the same engine and power train options as the VT650 but has been shortened and lowered to allow greater maneuverability in confined spaces. This provides the user with a heavy duty performing sweeper on a lighter chassis. With a heavy duty, corrosion resistant stainless steel body, the robust Johnston VT500 is built for unrivalled durability.

The overall height of the VT500 is about 9'-6" (chassis dependant), which is almost 18" lower than the standard VT650. This allows greater access in areas with overhanging trees or branches.

The VT500 has 10" diameter suction hoses and carries 265 gallons of water to meet the demands of the inner city urban environment. The VT500 can be equipped with single or dual sweep broom control achieving a 141.5" total broom width and the ability to sweep with both brooms operating simultaneously.

In-Cab Controls

Sweeping operations are controlled from the master module inside the cab, while critical systems controls - including master circuit breaker, valves and auxiliary equipment for the pneumatic, hydraulic and water systems - are housed in a purpose built, dust proof and weather proof locker. The VT500 also benefits from IP67 automotive electrical connectors to enhance reliability.

Advanced Hopper Design

With many years experience of hopper design coupled with dedicated research, Johnston has developed a unique hopper void which creates a cyclone filtering of dust and debris particles prior to discharge to atmosphere through filter mesh screens. This unique design is a standard feature of all Johnston V-Range sweepers.

The hopper discharge chute directs loads efficiently and cleanly, avoiding contact with the rest of the sweeper, in addition the load de-watering option allows water to drain from the hopper waste before discharging a load. The VT500 also features as standard a draining system allowing quick water discharge from the sweeper systems when freezing conditions threaten.

The Johnston VT800 is a Heavy Duty Workhorse

The Johnston VT800 is a 9 cubic yard (usable) capacity worksite power house! Equally at home on municipal street cleansing or heavier duty work sites, the VT800 delivers consistently high pick-up performance – even on contractor duties such as road planing and dirt pick-up around construction sites and access roads. Available in dual or single sweep configuration, the maximum sweeping path of 11'-8" (with dual broom operation) ensures superb coverage per hour – and with high capacity hoppers, water systems and fuel tanks, the VT800 is designed to stay at work for longer.

The overall height of the VT800 is about 11'-6" (chassis dependant). The VT800 is a low-dumping sweeper with a nominal dump height of 39". The VT800 has 10" diameter suction hoses and carries 489 gallons of water to meet the demands of any dust suppression situation.

Sweeping operations are controlled from the master module inside the cab, while critical systems controls – including master circuit breaker, valves and auxiliary equipment for the pneumatic, hydraulic and water systems – are housed in a purpose built, dust proof and weather proof locker. The VT800 also benefits from IP67 automotive electrical connectors to enhance reliability.

This unique design is a standard feature of all Johnston V-Range sweepers.

The rear discharge chute directs loads away from the rear of the vehicle, minimising the risk of damage to lamps and other components. The standard load de-watering system allows draining of water from the waste volume. The VT800 also features as standard Johnston's 'Pressadrain' water purging system that enables the easy removal of water from the systems in freezing overnight conditions.

Water Recirculation

The VT800 comes with an optional water recirculation system that recycles excess water in the body space into the suction nozzle. This conserves water, reduces dust emissions and extends on-station time.
