Petersen Industries is an ANSI-Compliant company with 50 years of experience manufacturing knuckleboom loaders. The first Lightning Loader® for bulk citrus was introduced in 1957, and they have manufactured over 3,700 of them since. In the mid 1970's Petersen was asked to design a knuckleboom that could be used for loading bulky trash. The result was a trash loader concept that has been improved and refined over the last 30 years. Petersen is exclusively focused on trash and citrus loaders.
With the exception of 3 or 4 engineered items, Petersen manufactures all other major components, including most hydraulic cylinders. Petersen has complete CNC machining and fabrication facilities, along with a factory installation that integrates the loader, trash body and truck chassis into an optimized system for oversized trash collection. That aspect separates them from their competition – and the customer ends up with a single point of responsibility for the performance of the entire system.

Model TL-3 Lightning Loader®
Dual Control Grapple Truck
Petersen has been building the model TL-3 since 1979, and it is their most popular and versatile unit. A single operator can load, haul and dump trash with this unit.
- 20 ft. boom reach includes 4 ft. telescoping extension
- Lifts 3,200 lbs. when fully extended at 20 ft.
- At 10 ft. maximum lift capacity is 7,100 lbs.

Model RS-3 Lightning Loader®
Stay on Route with Continuous Loading!
Petersen has been building the model RS-3 since 1997. It's the most advanced and efficient system for collecting trash on the market and a great system for high volume route collection.
Two features that set this unit apart are the ability to drive in reverse from the operator's station and not needing outriggers for most loading operations. The Rear Steer may be driven from behind and loads into separate haul trucks from a single lane.
- Twin mechanical joystick controls
- Operator's cab has air-conditioning, heat, air-ride seat, and windshield wipers
- Operator's cab also features all normal driving controls for driving backward; brakes, acceleration, horn, etc.
- 20 ft. boom reach includes 4 ft. telescopic extension
- Large counter-weight and suspension locks add stability for loading

Model RL-3 Lightning Loader®
Walk-Through Controls Allow Driver to be the Operator!
The rear-mounted RL-3 is designed for loading into attached trailers or into separate haul trucks.
- 20 ft. boom reach includes 4 ft. telescopic extension
- Standard control type is dual walk-thru
- Also available with patented QuadStick® controls – 4 six-function mechanical joysticks
- Trailer package option – includes float control, pintle hitch, diverter valve, and quick coupler
- Boom stows in rear rack or in trailer

The model BL-3 is a 20 ft. knuckleboom loader that is permanently mounted in front of a rolloff.
You can use your existing rolloff boxes with this system. A favorite with large waste companies, Petersen has been manufacturing the BL-3 model since 1998.

Model TT2 Trash Dump Trailer
Petersen's standard trailer is heavy duty! Trailer includes 3in. pintle eye, jack stand, quick couplers, and 15,000 lb capacity draw bar. Designed for use with Petersen models RL-3 and RL-2.
